Instagram DM billing, automatic data deletion, and a smoother signup

This release introduces usage-based billing for Instagram DMs, automatic compliance with Meta's account-removal and data-deletion requirements, and a guided setup experience for new accounts:

  • Instagram DMs are now billed by conversation: Each Instagram conversation with at least one message you send through our API is billed once per billing period, rather than per message. Messages you send from the Instagram app itself are never billed. Pricing for this is now disclosed on our site, and your account usage endpoint reports your current billable conversation count for the period.
  • Clearer distinction between API and app-sent messages: Messages sent from the native Instagram app no longer appear in message history retrieved through the API; you'll now only see them via a message.sent webhook carrying source: "native_app". Messages sent through our API now include source: "api" on both the API response and the webhook, so you can reliably tell them apart.
  • Automatic data deletion for Facebook, Instagram, and Threads: When one of your customers removes your connected app or requests data deletion through Meta, we now automatically delete their connected accounts, tokens, DMs, and imported posts on your behalf, keeping you compliant with Meta's platform requirements without any manual work. If you use your own Meta app, check our updated docs for the callback URLs Meta now requires.
  • New account setup walks you through getting started: New signups are now guided through a short setup flow covering your use case and team before choosing a plan, with the option to decide on a plan later.
